what does 10:45 military time mean?

Have you ever seen or heard 10:45 as a time and wondered what it meant? Then you're not alone. 10:45 as a time is actually military time, and many people find themselves asking "What does 10:45 military time mean?"

Military time or 24-hour time is the most widely used system of tracking and reporting hours of the day. This comes in handier when communicating over long distances or different time zones. It's also the system used by many other countries outside of America, such as those in Europe, South America and even some parts of Asia.

So, if you're wondering, "What does 10:45 military time mean?" The answer is that it is equivalent to 10:45am in regular clock notation. This makes sense if you simply take away the colon (:). So 1045 = 10:45 - shorter, simpler and easier to read.

In other words, for every hour leading up until 12pm (noon) any amount before 12 obviously refers to the am hours whereas any number after 12 would be pm hours. So 22:00 (10pm) would be two hours after 12pm and therefore pm not am. And don't forget 1200 which would equal noon exactly which is midday, naturally!

To help make things even simpler try using your thumb as a guide on your clock/watch face; starting around 9 o'clock going round towards 2 o'clock signifies AM but then once around past 3 o'clock going right up to 8 o'clock that would then refer to PM for afternoon/evening times… pretty neat huh?
